Impress the folks at home by learning to chop an onion just like a chef!  First, peel and halve the onion, place one half on a board.  With the knife blade pointing from top to root end,  and make vertical cuts down through the onion without cutting right trhough.  Then turn the knife blade flat and make a few cuts across horizontally.  Lastly, holding the knife as normal, cut down through the onion from top to bottom.  Small dice should fall onto the board – and don’t worry about speed – that will come later!
